do you know?

What is the name of the first authorized Bible in the English language?

Under what King of England was it authorized?

What was the date of its publication?

Who prepared this Bible?

Who's translation was used as the basis of this Bible?

Who's work did the translator use as the basis for his English translation?

Ok, here goes:
1st authorized name - King James Name -Verson or Authorized Version
-King James 1 of England
-1611
prepared by six teams of scholars
Translations from Bishops Bible and Tyndale's Bible, as well as Greek and Hebrew manuscripts.
But to be really correct, I would need to go back Gutenberg (1500) and the Latin Vulgate version and then to Erasmus who in 1516 published a more accurate Latin translation of the NT. Using Erasmus as a base, Martin Luther (in German) and William Tyndale, in English, paved the way for the King James Version of 1611.
I am constantly amazed at how God preserved his written Word and brought it to us and is still preserving it today.

Psalm 1 - "..his delight is in the Law of the Lord and on his law he meditates day and night.."

Psalm 19:7 "The Law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul;"

Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."

Good little history of the Bible's course in that turbulent era. Thanks!
