As believers, we are in a distinctly unique relationship with the world. We are able to understand the 'world's chatter', due to the fact that we were once in and of the world, but the world is totally unable to comprehend our 'language'. (1 Corinthians 2:14) The world communicates with worldly, 'under the sun' ideas ~ a language we once spoke exclusively. But now we 'have the mind of Christ' (1 Corinthians 2:16) through the indwelling Holy Spirit and the Word of God which He wrote as He moved men to write our 'treasure' (2 Peter 1:16-21) ~ the Word of God.
John 17
14 I have given them your Word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.
16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
17 Sanctify them by the Truth. Your Word is Truth.
18 As You sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.
